Monitoring your data usage is essential to avoid unexpected charges and ensure you’re on the right plan for your needs.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to check your usage stats and view your subscription details.

Steps to Check Your Usage on Daton

1. Click on your profile icon and select "Subscriptions."

2. You will be taken to the billing details page, where you can check:

  1. Plan type: Your current subscription plan.
  2. Next billing date: Date of your next invoice and payment.
  3. Billing Cycle: Whether your billing is monthly or yearly

Enterprise users won't be able to see the plan amount.

If you are an Enterprise user you will see the plan amount as $0.00/Month or $0.00/Year, depending on your billing cycle.

3. Navigate to the "Usage Stats" tab to view an overview of your current usage.

In this example, you can infer:

  1. The user has used 2 Million rows, of the allocated 5 million rows.
  2. The usage percentage, 40%, is also shown above the bar.

Limitation for Enterprise users

As an Enterprise user, you will not see the usage limit or percentage displayed. To monitor your usage, we recommend downloading a detailed report.

4. For a detailed monthly report of your usage, click “Export as CSV”.

5. Choose the time period you want to evaluate the usage for and download the file.

The time brackets provided in your usage report depend on when your subscription started.

For example: If your subscription began on the 13th of a given month, your usage cycle would be from the 13th of one month to the 13th of the next month (e.g., March 13th to April 13th).

Monthly Reporting for All Users
Even if you have a yearly subscription, your usage report will be generated on a monthly cycle based on your subscription start date.

This allows for more granular tracking and management of your resource usage throughout the year.

Understanding Your Usage Report

When you download and review your usage report, you can extract the following key details for your selected time period:

1. Number of Rows Processed
This represents the total volume of data your operations have handled.

2. Free Load Rows
These rows do not count towards your billable usage and include:

  • Initial loads
  • Reloads
  • Rollbacks

3. Chargeable Rows Count
These are the rows considered when calculating any potential overages. It is calculated as:

Chargeable Rows = Total Rows Processed - Free Load Rows

The report provides usage data at the table level. However, you can choose to sort the report by integration name to gain insights into integration or source-level usage.

FAQ

Q. How often is usage stat updated?

  • Usage updates in real-time as you consume rows. The usage stats and report reflect live updates.

Q. I am on a yearly plan, will I get monthly usage or yearly usage?

  • Usage are calculated and reported on a monthly basis irrespective of the billing cycle you are on, monthly or yearly.

Q. I am on the Enterprise plan and I can't see the limit.

  • Enterprise plan users can view only the usage they've consumed. The limit and the percentage consumed are not visible to Enterprise users. The best approach would be to download the usage report and infer the usage from that.

Q. How will I know if I am approaching or have exceeded my row limit for the month?

  • To help you stay informed about your usage, we send notifications to all Lite and Growth plan users at the following milestones:
    • 50% of your usage limit: Receive a notification when you reach half of your allocated rows.
    • 80% of your usage limit: Get alerted when you are close to reaching your limit.
    • 100% of your usage limit: Receive a final notification when you have fully utilized your allocated rows.

To avoid unexpected costs, we encourage you to assess your usage and take action accordingly.

If you are a Lite or Growth plan user and your overages are significant, we recommend considering an upgrade to a Growth or an Enterprise plan, which may better suit your data needs.
