Google Cloud Platform (GCP) uses Identity and Access Management (IAM) to control who can access resources and what actions they can perform. Checking and assigning permissions ensures that users or service accounts have the right level of access without compromising security.

Go to the GCP Console

Open GCP Console and log in using your Google Cloud account

Click on the IAM & Admin Button

From the vertical navigation bar on the left-hand side, click IAM & Admin to open the IAM dashboard

Search for the Principal

In the IAM dashboard, enter the principal’s name or email (e.g., reports@sarasanalytics.com) in the filter search box to locate the user or service account

Click the Edit Icon

Once the principal appears in the list, click the edit (pencil) icon next to the principal’s email to modify roles

Add or Verify Roles

In the Edit access panel, you can:
Verify the roles already assigned, or
Add additional roles by clicking Add Another Role and selecting the required role(s)
