What are Custom Tables?

Custom Tables are flexible adinsights tables that allow you to define your own breakdowns based on your specific reporting needs. You can choose the dimensions and metrics that matter most to your business, giving you greater control and customization over your campaign performance insights. You can find the custom tables tab(as shown in the image below) along with normal tables.
 

 

What are Breakdown Fields?

Breakdowns in Meta Ads Insights allow you to segment performance data across different dimensions such as age, gender, platform, creative asset, and more. They help advertisers understand where, how, and to whom their ads are performing by slicing metrics like impressions, clicks or conversions based on these dimensions.
You can use one or more breakdowns in a query to gain granular insights into your ad performance.

Here are the breakdowns supported for adinsights table:


1. Action-Based

Breakdown type Description
action_device Device used when the action occurred (e.g., mobile, desktop)
action_canvas_component_name Name of the Canvas (Instant Experience) component where the action happened
action_carousel_card_id ID of the carousel card interacted with
action_carousel_card_name Name of the carousel card interacted with
action_destination Destination of the action (e.g., website, app)
action_reaction Type of reaction (like, love, haha, wow, etc.)
action_target_id ID of the object that received the action
action_type Type of user action (e.g., click, view_content, purchase)
action_video_sound Indicates whether the video was played with sound
action_video_type Type of video interaction (e.g., complete_view, sound_on)

 

2. Creative Asset

Breakdown type Description
ad_format_asset Ad format used (e.g., video, carousel)
body_asset Text body asset used in the ad creative
call_to_action_asset CTA asset used (e.g., Shop Now, Learn More)
description_asset Description asset from the creative
image_asset Image asset used in the creative
link_url_asset URL used in the ad creative
title_asset Title asset used in the creative
video_asset Video asset used in the creative

 

3. Demographic & Location

Breakdown type Description
age Age range of users (e.g., 18-24, 25-34)
gender Gender of the audience (male, female, unknown)
country Country of the user viewing the ad
region Region within a country
dma Nielsen designated market area (mostly U.S.)
frequency_value Number of times the ad was shown to a user
user_segment_key Segment of the user (e.g., based on behavior or targeting)

 

4. Device & Platform

Breakdown type Description
device_platform Platform type (mobile, desktop, etc.)
impression_device Device where the ad was viewed (e.g., iPhone, Android)
platform_position Ad placement (e.g., feed, stories, right column)
publisher_platform Platform where the ad was served (Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network, etc.)

 

5. Time-Based

Breakdown type Description
hourly_stats_aggregated_by_advertiser_time_zone Hourly performance using the advertiser's time zone
hourly_stats_aggregated_by_audience_time_zone Hourly performance using the viewer's time zone

 

6. App & Product Attribution

Breakdown type Description
app_id ID of the app that triggered the conversion
product_id ID of the product involved in the action
place_page_id Page ID of the place where the action happened

 

7. SKAdNetwork Attribution

Breakdown type Description
skan_campaign_id SKAdNetwork campaign ID assigned by Meta
